The risk sits at the other end of the relationship. Business Insider reported in March 2026 on five contractors suspended without warning on OpenAI projects, four of whom were not paid for completed work, and Handshake's own policy documents make that outcome contractual rather than accidental: on a confirmed LLM violation the work is rejected, the time is unpaid, and you can be removed from the program. Take it if the money is upside on work you would find interesting anyway; skip it if you are counting on the money.

What Turing mostly will not tell you is what any of it pays: most postings on its own board carry no rate, and the dollar figures on the role cards are referral bonuses rather than wages. It suits a specialist who can afford to spend unpaid hours on a contract that might pay well, and it does not suit anyone who needs the number first.
