What the work is
SME Careers is SuperAnnotate's network of subject-matter experts who train and evaluate AI models. You apply once, take an AI video interview, and get invited to projects when client work matches your profile.
Who they want
People with advanced degrees or hands-on professional expertise. Its job page lists roles in medicine, law, finance, science, engineering and languages, each open to specific countries (its homepage says experts from 40+ countries).

Step 5
Onboard, then wait
Deel contract, ID and Discord checks, then a project invitation by email.
How you get in
Sign up through our link, complete your profile with a CV, apply to a role that matches your field and country, then take the AI interview from your Applications page.
How it pays
No open roles to plot. We are not mirroring any open role on SME Careers's board right now, so there is no distribution to draw.
Hourly, set per project and shown on the project invitation before you accept. The job page lists "up to" ceilings per role, from $15/hr (several language roles) to $120/hr (US legal rubric design), with $100/hr for US healthcare, finance and STEM rubric roles (264 open roles, Oct 16, 2026). Some roles pay monthly in local currency. Paid weekly through Deel: Monday to Sunday work is paid the following Friday.
What workers say
The public record on SME Careers
The public record is thin. Trustpilot has 1 review (1 star, Aug 29, 2026), alleging the reviewer was ghosted after passing the AI interview. Across 2 r/WFHJobs threads (April to September 2026) and 3 RemoWork reviews (February to July 2026), the common complaint is finishing onboarding and then waiting with no project. Some report offers around $20/hr. These are small, self-selected samples, and people post most when they're stuck.
Scores, and what each one measures
No aggregate score from a review site is on record for SME Careers. An empty row here is the honest state of it, and we would rather show that than borrow a number from somewhere that does not say what it counted.
Our read of it
Pros
- Its own job page publishes a rate ceiling for most roles, with country eligibility shown on each listing.
- Weekly pay through Deel, with the payout cycle documented.
- Screening is a 15-minute recorded interview, with one retake if offered. An incomplete interview doesn't count as an attempt.
- Each project's rate is shown on the invitation before you accept.
Cons
- Passing screening and onboarding doesn't guarantee work. SME Careers' own docs say there is "no fixed timeline" for a first project.
- Listed rates are ceilings. Your project rate can be lower, and some listings say "Rate not specified".
- Time is tracked with Insightful, and some tracked time isn't payable (for example, social media sites).
- Very few public worker reviews: 1 on Trustpilot as of Oct 16, 2026.
Who it fits, and who should skip it
Best for

Who should skip it
Skip it if you need paid hours this month. Also skip it if you don't want monitoring software running while you work.
